Peer Review Process

How submitted manuscripts are reviewed.

The peer review process for Clinical & Surgical Review follows these stages: 1. Initial editorial screening — every submitted manuscript is first reviewed by the editorial office for scope, completeness and ethical compliance. 2. Peer review — manuscripts that pass initial screening are sent to at least one or two external reviewers when applicable. 3. Revision process — authors are given the opportunity to revise the manuscript based on reviewer comments. 4. Final decision — the editor makes the final decision based on reviewer recommendations. Possible decisions: accept, minor revision, major revision, reject. Estimated editorial response time: 4 to 6 weeks for the first decision.
